I am officially finished with spanish school. I had a lovely last week of classes at the MT school with another great group of people and wrote a childrens story in spanish for my graduation on friday. I left immediately after for Xela to go on the weekend hike with Quetzaltrekkers up Tagumulco, the highest peak in central america. We camped out on saturday night and summitted in time for the sunrise yesterday morning, on Valentines Day. I enjoyed the trip, although its still hard for me to be hiking in a group. After the hike a group of us went in search of the best ice cream in xela and were afraid it would be closed sine every other shop in xela was closed but not only was it open, but a live DJ was on the street outside playing American music. I had a banana split and a sundae. A group of us also went to the local Blue Angel Cafe with great vegetarian food and movies to watch so we ate and watches Dazed and Confused. I will spend 2 or 3 more days in Xela learning to weave before I head to Honduras for a week.

Hi Em,

We are pondering what to pack for our trip. I suppose both warm and cool clothes.

Have fun in Honduras. Laurie and John G. have been there.

Sounds like you have learned a lot of Spanish.

I talked to your mom -- they were busy choosing the right college for next year--maybe Masters?

Let us know when you plan to meet up with us in Antigua.

Love you,
B & J

Hi Em,

Do you mind letting my parents know that their Tikal reservations were successfully changed to March 6th? They were really worried about it. They should still check in with their travel agent, but she sent confirmation today.

Thanks!

Laurie
