mile 265: Big Bear

Hello everyone. I am now in Big Bear. I arrived this morning in time for lunch and checked into a hostel for 2 nights. This last stretch was a challenge. I bought microspikes and crossed a snowy ridge, descended 8,000 feet back to the desert and land of wind farms only to climb back up to 8500 feet. It has been challenging, but gorgeous.

My latest challenge has been a foot injury. Two days ago my left foot started having intense, sharp pain. It was so bad I was limping, but I pushed through it and took Ibuprofen and busted out a 25-mile day yesterday and arrived to the city after 10 miles this morning. I am thinking its some muscle or ligament strain. I will be icing it and soaking it in Epsom salts all day tomorrow.

I have been meeting many people and making friends, although we all walk at different paces so I am meeting new people all the time. Every so often along the trail there are "trail angels" who provide "trail magic" like yesterday in the middle of nowhere there was a lazyboy on the trail with a cooler of bananas and today there was a cooler of gatorade and candy bars. It really feels like magic when our feet are hurting and we struggle to find water and then suddenly there's a lazy boy and some bananas.

I am really hoping my foot heals soon. I will be resting all day tomorrow. And I will add photos in a few weeks!
