Hello! I am in Queenstown, a tourist extreme adventure mountain town. This is where I would have spent my winter had I decided to stay longer. It would have been fun, but I would have gotten bored quickly I think. I have spent the last week being a tourist and its been great fun. I visited two glaciers: Franz Joseph and Fox Glacier. At the first I met an old Israeli biologist and we walked together for afew hours. At the second I ran into a few tramping friends from the north island. I also went on a 4-day tramp to Welcome Flat, a hut next to 3 swimming pool sized hot pools. It was a blast. I was there with 10 Israelis and a hippie Swiss guy who played his didge as we watched shooting stars. The following two days I spent wit two old kiwi men who were taking a nostalgia trip. I hiked with them to the top of Copland Pass where we were face-to-face with Mt. Cook. Nothing quite like it. Yesterday I hiked 25 k out to the road only to meet up with my tramping friends from Arthur's Pass. Today I traveled to Queenstown. In a couple days I leave for a 13-day tramp in some of New Zealand's most beautiful mountains yet. It keeps getting better.

Hey Em,
wow you have definitely gone a long way in New Zealand. Great views, I'm a bit jealous. Stay safe.
