Wellington? or another farm?

So, I am in Wellington. I arrived on thursday. I had been planning for months to come for 4 nights to experience a but of the city: do some gear shopping, museums, landry, ice cream, internet, coffee shops. Well, when I arrived I learned that there were about 5 events going on that weekend and there were no hostels available. I was feeling pretty helpless as I stood in the busy train station so I started calling wwoof hosts and just before I was about to give up, a couple said I could come to the farm for a few days. I spent three nights on the farm doing various jobs. It was the most sustainable farm I've been on. Solar heating, wind power, home-made soaps, detergents, butter, sour cream, cheese. Milk from the cow, honey from the bees, veggies from the garden. I lived in an old barn and was delighted to meet an irish wwoofer, gladys, who has been at the farm for 6 weeks now. We spent hours every day talking about travels, life. She was hilarious and charming. Each night we watched Agatha Christie's Miss Marple. See them. Fabulous British humor. Last night we watched American Idol. We laughed a lot. I am very glad to have met her. I decided to get a hostel tonight so I could see a bit of Wellington before my ferry tomorrow. It is a great artsy town. I love it. Went to an independent film today: Once. See it. I may go to another tonight. I also spent some time shopping in the 6 outdoor shops they have and bought some tea. When I was in taranki my pack cover flew away so I had to buy another today. Also, new zealanders tend to wear rainbow or funky colored polypropolene base layers so today I bought some bottoms and a top. I will put a picture up soon. I feel I could spend a few weeks here, but I have only a few hours. It has been nice. Tomorrow I go to the South Island finally!
