I caught another Easyjet flight - this time out of Gatwick Airport to fly to Cologne. It's a big advantage to check in without bags because with online check-in you're always in the first boarding group. Nonetheless, it still amazes me how many people walk straight by the emergency exit seats!! I snap them up every time!
The flight to Cologne took just under an hour - the weather on arrival was a bit showery which had me a bit concerned given that i didn't bring any wet weather gear! Thankfully things almost improved immediately and the next few days were 23 degrees and sunny consistently.
The reason I'd travelled to Cologne was to catch up with Mullo and Kat who were spending a couple of weeks in Germany after a wedding in the US. It was great to see them when I arrived at the hotel (after a bakery stop-off) which Mullo had booked right in the centre of town.
The next few days were spent checking out the Dom (massive cathedral in the centre of town with 509 steps to the top), brewhauses (mullo and i landed a personal tour!), a couple of musuems, Konigswinter (Drachenfels - translates to Dragon Hills, Koblenz (where we started our Rhein cruise) and Bonn (birthplace to big Beethoven and the former capital). It was a really great few days.
