Sometimes you stumble upon a place and just don't want to leave. Like Villa Fridhem in the town of Härnösands. The B&B is a bit off the main road and even our SatNav couldn't locate it. (We've gotten to referring to the GPS as "her," as in "can't you do something to shut her up?" Or "where is she sending us now?") Sara and her husband have done a wonderful job of sprucing the place up; him being a carpenter and all. We have the only en suite room, "Julia" by name, in the separate cottage.
The attic has been converted into a lovely common room/kitchen with a lake view and satellite TV. We had the entire place to ourselves yesterday but, sadly, have to share tonight.
In her role as the unofficial mayor of Härnösands, Sara gave us tons of information about the town and the area, including a booklet with photos of every building. In Swedish, of course. A three-day market was underway with all sorts of food, clothing, produce and candy. And when we told her about our journey Sara got so excited she arranged an interview with the local newspaper. We'll post the article when it comes out, after a critical examination to preserve what little dignity we have left.
