Great Ocean Road

We took the direct route on the A1 so that we would start our tour of the Great Ocena Road (https://www.visitgreatoceanroad.org.au/) at Warrnambool and work our way against the main flow of tour buses coming from Melbourne. The wind was coming up, so we stopped only at London Bridge and the Twelve Apolostles on the first day. We pulled into Apollo Bay after dark and collapsed for the evening.
Day 2 on the Great Ocean Road began with blue skies, but we could see the clouds already beginning to gather. After breakfast, we backtracked to the Cape Otway Lightstation (the oldest one on mainland Australia). We took a tour of the lightstation and had a snack at their cafe before heading on to Lorne for lunch and a view from Teddys Lookout. Our next stop was the Split Point Lighthouse at Aireys Inlet. Again, luck was with us as we made it on the last tour of the day for the lighthouse. The views from the 'light' level were exceptional and the sun was out. However, we saw the rain clouds racing in and quickly left, driving in and out of rain on our way back to Ocean Grove.
