Most cities in the US put on big firework displays on Independence Day, the 4th of July. But here in Chicago they've decided to light up the sky a day early, on Independence Eve.
Where's
the best place to watch these fireworks? Down on the streets, stuck in
the crowds? No way. We're not cavorting with the common folk down
there. We go up to the 95th floor of the John Hancock building and
enjoy the display over some Signature Lounge cocktails. A great
surprise from mom and dad!
The views from up
here are amazing and we sip cocktails while waiting for the sun to set
over the windy city. When the fireworks start up, everyone rushes to
the windows and we all Ooohhh and Aaahhh at the bright lights.
After
all the drinks we need to eat and dad knows a great Italian restaurant
that will do the trick. We stuff ourselves with pasta and wine and
after they pay the bill, we quickly ditch the old folks and head to a
club.
Kid Capri is in town and even
though we bought our tickets earlier today, we still have to stand in a line wrapped around the building. Rubbish. After 20 mins in line,
we finally make it to the door, just to be told that the club is full -
no one else gets in. Oh no you didn't!
Everyone
is ready to jump the bouncer, when Ramata and some of her friends show
up. Now with these numbers we can definitely take the bouncer down.
Lucky for him they open the door from the inside and we manage to
squeeze ourselves in the club.
And
they weren't kidding, this is a packed house and the party is hopping.
Kid Capri is spinning on the stage and people are dancing in front of
him and on the balcony above. After all that waiting we're ready to hit
the dance floor. We groove into the wee hours of this 4th of July
morning.
