So what do you do when
swine flu shuts down all of Mexico? Well you go to the beach. At
least that hasn't been infected yet. But wait, let's think about this
for a second. Tourists are cancelling thier vacations, no-one wants
to come here at the moment, which means hotels are suffering and
desperate for business. So let's see how desperate they are....
After very little research
we discover that 4 star all-inclusive resorts have reduced their
rates, by a lot. I mean, a lot. We choose one and, ok it's a little more expensive
than we're used to, but we're getting it for way less than
half-price. And when we get there, we realize it's worth every penny.
The resort is lovely. Big room, good food, free bar, two pools,
beach. We could get used to this!
After 3 nights, it gets
even better. The resorts are all shutting down their cheaper hotels
and moving everyone to the most expensive resorts. Upgrades for all!
What a great time to be in Mexico. There's not even one confirmed
case of swine flu here on the coast. Is this all just scare
mongering?
Whatever it is, it's given
us the chance to spend 6 nights at amazing resorts. Good bye crap
hostels and cheap restaurants!
