Onwards for the Gringo Route

Next stop on the Gringo Route is Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru. We've heard that it's a beautiful colonial-style city and it doesn't disappoint - it's exactly that. It boasts the usual Peruvian town squares and churches and it's also has a huge, beautiful convent called Convento de Santa Catalina, which we spend the day exploring (yes it takes a day!) After seeing the city we sign up for a low-budget two-day tour to one of Peru's most impressive natural wonders; Colca Canyon.

Colca Canyon is, at it's deepest, three times the depth of the Grand Canyon. With a headline like that, you've got to go and take a look....
