The leaves are changing colour and the weather is getting really cold. It's going to be freezing soon, literally what with the snow and all that's due in winter.
I really need to sort out something warm for my lowerlegs till I get my tall boots from Australia in January. I have long under wear and I also bought some leg warmers, but once you get moving the wind chill is phenomenal. My jacket is impenetrable though, the best investment I've ever made.
Speaking of getting moving, I'm expecting a speeding fine to turn up.
I'm going to see a friends band play in Takasaki tonight, that's a city about 50 minutes away by train. I went into Kiryu last night to pick up my ticket, it was pretty late on the way back and the roads were mostly empty. So I was on my bike and following this one car, keeping pace when a bright light went off to my left. I assume I was done by a camera :(
In my defence I was probably only doing somewhere between 60 and 70 km at the time, of course the max speed limit on Route 122 is 50 km. Ok so there's no defence to that, other than 50 km on a major road is just too slow!
I have no idea what kind of fines apply or what kind of points system is used here, I guess I'll be finding out soon.
But tonight is the gig in Takasaki (see how up to date with pop-culture I am, I can use 'gig' in a culturally appropriate manner) which should be interesting. Language class again tomorrow, I really should have studied but I didn't. Then I may be finally going to a local cinema on Sunday afternoon, if there's something playing in English.
Oh, the Halloween baskets I made with the elementary kids were a big hit, so it was suggested I do something similar for Christmas. The last couple of days I've been designing a paper angel (you know, for the top of a tree) for the kids to cut out and assemble.
Maybe I can work out how to scan it next week and anyone who wants to have a go at it in Aus can print it out and assemble it (requires scissors and/or a retractable knife, and glue). It also has to be coloured in and decorated of course, send me pictures and I'll put up a gallery.
Now I actually have to provide the file.
I should probably go, I have to get to Kiryu and then catch a train to Takasaki, should I ride or drive? I'll have to carry bike gear with me if I ride, but I'll have to deal with parking the car and possibly being late if I drive?
So much hassle.
