So excited to see the Sea of Cortez and here we are on Monday the 25th of June. On our way to the east coast of Baja we "ran into" Erik - the crazy dutch guy people have "warned" (not any crazier than some other people we know..) us about. He came from where we are going....So fun to stand there in the middle of Baja and talk - couldn't get enough from his stories, but we had to part and wish each other well. Short and sweet, exchanging some advice and good places to stop, people and friends to meet on the way.
Soon after meeting Erik, road constructions started. New roads are build to support trucks for transporting goods from the many copper mines in this area. Humidity rose, dust, trucks - a combination, enough to put me in a tail spin again....
Only 25km to go from San Ignacio to Santa Rosalia, but we were exhausted when we got there, not to say highly disappointed too. The Sea of Cortez, it's colors and all, was swallowed by the ugliness that surrounded us in form of construction and industrial buildings and sites, right before town. The town itself displayed interesting french architecture and even Mr Eifel himself build a little church here. Too little too late, we were not impressed and there didn't seem to be a place to camp either, so, we pressed on to San Luka - just 10 km south of S.R. camped for the night, dipped into the 85 degree f water which was hardly refreshing....
