James and our new found friend Nivea - on the road together.

It's Wednesday the 18th, I am sitting in our tent while it's raining. A white kitty named Nivea is making this whole experience even more sweet and cozy for now......here is the story:
After a hearty breakfast we left (I can't figure out what that little place we stayed at was called...) in the fog and the potential for more rain. Though we have climbed seemingly to the plato, we found ourselves still climbing and at the same time questioning if we should just turn around and ride all the way back down to the coast into the sunshine and the warms and take the humidity ....but we kept going in hopes to find better weather somehow, less rain and something.....
What we found after only a few km of pedaling, was a turnout with a truck and a screaming kitten. The pick up truck left when we decided to turn around and check the situation: Not only a pure white screaming kitten, but about 6 puppy dogs curled up on a piece of cardboard. Most of the puppies looked like they had been sick and undernourished, the kitten looked in better shape and came running up to us. No clue what to do, but when we tried to leave, James discovered that he had a flat front tire, so we had to stay for a while anyways........while fixing the tire we made friends with the kitty and the pups seemed to roam around for a bit, when James followed one into the woods and discovered they been keeping alive by eating their deceased mother.....quite a terrible sight!!!
We couldn't help but take the kitten....she climbed up on my back and was riding for 50 km switching off between James's and my back. Here we are now in El Salto. We had to consult with a pharmacist about James's stomach pains and discomfort and the sweet pharmasist lady called her families' hotel to let us camp there for free, so we did and we still are, spending a second night here. The kitten had a bath and some food, James came up with the name Nivea and  she is keeping us busy and now we don't really know what to do with her. Spending some time asking people if they want a sweet white kitten......you can guess...we are in Mexico.......as much as we care for this little creature, our efforts are not shared...
Stay tuned what happens next..plan is to ride to Durango tomorrow - some 80 km and  I guess Nivea will be riding on our backs again.....
