9/4/09 Jiri I can’t believe I am off to hike in the Himalayas…………….Oh my gosh! The bus ride from Kathmandu to Jiri was 9 hours- some part of the road were dirt and some of it inspired me to close my eyes, in spite of the beautiful surroundings, due to severe drops on the side looking out my window. Seeing a bus wreckage way on the bottom of the canyon sure didn’t help my confidence in the driver. We made it though and our little lodge in Jiri was simple and sweet, charming and pretty darn clean, compare to what I have been used to…… 10/4/09 – first day trekking Shivalaya to Bhandar Friday – didn’t know what day of the week it is – who cares anyways? Hard day of hiking – I guess we are still training….. Our hike was strong and good though, lots of climbing over rocks in the heat of the day. We had lunch on top of the world. The downhill to Bhandar was almost never ending. My toenails are “losing it”
