Bill's Big Trip "Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for. Imagine all the people living life in peace. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as one." John Lennon

Namibia, Etosha National Park

It was quite an experience seeing the animals in the natural environment. I was on a safari of one. I tried to join a tour, but there wasn't an open spot or the dates didn't work. I rented a car in Windhoek  (sp)and  headed for Etosha, about 900 miles round trip, including the park. They drive on the other side of the rode here, I had a 5 speed manual shift, the hardest part was trying to read/follow directions and concentrate on staying left.It should be a 4.5 hour drive. It took me 8 hours Anyhow, you tour the park in your vehicle or on a tour guide vehicle. Its a massive park,  approximately 450 miles of fencing to enclose the perimeter. They provide you with a map and the locations of the watering holes where the animals usually gather. I spent 2 days driving around the park viewing the animals, it was great experience.

About lipowcan8

A quick recap. I visited 19 countries in 212 days, traveled 46,000 miles by air,15,000 miles by land and spent about $25,000. My feet got beat up a few times and I twisted my ankle a couple of times. No plane, train, car, bus, tuk tuk or taxi mishaps, not even a fender bender. I wasn't threatened or harassed and amazingly enough I didn't lose anything. It's hard to believe seven months have passed. As I said in my first entry.....a wonderful way to celebrate 60 years of living. It sure was!
