We found these photos very interesting. They were taken in Josselin and show several of their main streets as they looked 100 years ago and then after they were renovated. Didn't they do a great job! It's interesting that they really do resemble the originals so closely.
The town is also worth a visit and I think I would vote for it as a "Town Voted by the French". But, I guess I'm not eligible. Wouldn't want to have any voter fraud here!
The lavoir, was one of the larger one's that we have seen. The sign explains how hard the work was for the women who made their living washing the clothing of others and the iron figure pays tribute to their important and necessary work. Also, the town has the only known remaining totally wood building, other buildings are "half-timbered" as they are an assemblage of beams with plaster, between them. It was built in 1609 and was a bakery. This type of structure was common in the region of Brittany!
