The whole country has warmed up, so much so that many of the departments have been placed in a canacule alert. This means that the temperature won't drop enough at night to cool off an area and offer relief. So, people are being warned to drink plenty of water, not to exercise too strenuously and to avoid too much sun. And of course the people are baking themselves in it!
As we walk the promenade, I can't help but notice all of the BURNED RED SKIN people. In fact, the other day, Ed asked me if I noticed something strange about the beach. I looked at the crowded beach and it took me a few seconds to realize that there were only two or three beach umbrellas among hundreds and hundreds of people! I wonder what the skin cancer rate is here? I do know that it takes 6 months to get an appointment with a dermatologist! They'll be sorry...However there seems to be a dichotomy between adults and their children. Even the TV shows remind parents to apply sunscreen to their children, cover their heads with a hat, and reapply sun cream often. The sporting goods stores have a great selection of sunblock clothing for children that doesn't exist at home.
