Eugene Boudin, born in Honfleur, loved to paint in nearby Trouville and Deauville. To honor him this summer, the town decorated its dock with reproductions of some his most famous works that were painted on it. It's fun to stand where the artist did, all most 150 years ago and look out on what he saw and how he interpreted it. Check the photo gallery on right to see his painting and today from the same spot.
More importantly, he was also a good friend to a 15 year younger Monet. Monet was drawing cartoons and Boudin convinced him to visit Honfleur and paint in plein air with him.
And we all know how that turned out!
