No place like home...Thank goodness !!! For those of you that know us, you'll already know the story, basically we decided that we've both worked enough (I've been working for 11 years, Danielle for 11 Months) and that we deserve some long overdue R&R and decided to take in some sights....enjoy

Jungle, Islam and Sand

MALAYSIA | Thursday, 17 May 2007 | Views [1616]

Another bus ride, jungle train, stopover in Kota Bharu ('The City of Islam'), football match, taxi, a speed boat and boat taxi and we FINALLY arrived in the Perhentian Islands!! Greeted on the beach by a German chap in a bikini (only kidding Christian!).

We were expecting great things from Kecil (the 'small' island) as people haved raved about it since we started our little trip...I think we had been spoiled by the beauty of the Gilis and the rubbish and (quite frankly) overpriced and under maintained accommodation wasn't what we were hoping for! HOWEVER... Our time there proved to be great fun (all down to WHO you're with) and we actually managed a night or two of drinking!! Wohoo! Good old Monkey Juice (a mixture of rum and whiskey) and about the only thing they had! Buying it involved a very hush hush process....odd!

The guys from the Camerons (shout out to the bad-ass gaaaanstas Hoffmeister Christian, Oracle Jim and personal Nike shopper Maren) and Miko the Eton speaking gent from Finland, who we met on the boat over, made up our little group (we were the envy of the islands I can tell you...!!)....we had a giggle or two!!

Apart from a rather interesting snorkelling trip (amusement c/o Miko) around the islands (loads of fish, sharks and turtles), some Monkey Juice and the beach we didn't really do much....just living the travelling life!

Onward down the east coast.
