First 24 hours in Paradise

USA | Thursday, 12 March 2015 | Views [217]

With a daytime high of 75, a curve of inviting silvery blue bay backed by steep green mountains, and "no worries" residents, Kailua is really close to a vision of Paradise. At least until a trip to buy groceries, where a Seattleite would blush at many of the prices. But the recompense is a morning traipse along the soft sand at sunrise which has the other leisure walkers, especially locals, smiling and saying hellos as friendly as if they were in East Texas. Restaurants have been reasonable compared to stores, and service from cafes to rental cars has been so pleasant it has been a surprise as jaw-dropping as the view. Drivers stop for pedestrians even better than Seattle, and with more grace.  Open the windows for the soft breeze and learn what seems to be the favorite phrase, "no worries".
