Hoover dam

Hoover dam

Pity we had to leave in the morning. Struggled out of bed and headed on our way to Hoover dam. It was an amazing structure and still had some of the original Art Deco style decoration. I even walked over it (very good for me as I don't like dam walls). The countryside changed continually all the way from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon. There was some that looked like we would see John Wayne riding towards us, some desert, some forestry, parts that were all covered in 'trailers'. The first thing we did upon arriving was go for a chopper ride. Words fail me. We went over forests and then bang - over the edge. All of us just gasped (Hayley from fright, and the rest of us in awe.) It was one of the most amazing things I have done. So hard to get a grasp of the magnitude of it. After returning to reality we went exploring the canyon rim and apart from the spectacular views we saw elk, deer, chipmunks and of course squirrels. Amazing day.
