Andrea came over and we started our Singapore adventure. First was a cruise through the bay in Singapore, stopping for lunch at Clarke Quay, where we also stopped a drink at Harrys bar (as you do). From there we went to the Gardens by the Bay where our science-fiction trees are. As well as the the supertrees with their skyway and a huge outdoor park (more like a forest), there are also two conservatories. One is called the Flower Dome and is basically a world of perpetual spring with thousands of plants from all around the world and a changing flower display - tulips at the moment. The other dome is called the Cloud Forest and this was spectacular. You walk in to view the world's tallest indoor waterfall and the whole construction is a planted mountainside with walkways around, right up to the canopy level. Has be seen to be believed. Both these domes are temperature controlled and a nice break from the humidity. From there we went back to the Marina Bay Sands and sat in the main bar right next to the 3 piece orchestra and just had a drink. Then off to meet Dorothy and Richard, Andrea's friends, for chilli crab. They took us to a local restaurant, off the tourist track and the food was spectacular. After dinner Andrea, Ian and I went to Raffles for the compulsory Singapore sling, and got to throw our peanut shells all over the floor. What a day!
