Happy wedding anniversary to us!! 27 years...... Scary. Started the day with a cyclo ride to the Imperial City. It was interesting, and the Vietnamese are currently putting a lot of work into recreating it exactly as it was because it was damaged significantly during the war. The cyclo was fun, albeit a tad scary as any driving around here is. We caught the cyclo back and then went for a wander around Hue, near where our motel is. It's a tad underwhelming. The good bits here are really good but the remainder is a bit like the back streets of any town. It was then time to check the pool out which proved to be better (cooler) than most of the rest we have had. In the late afternoon we headed off to the Duc Son pagoda orphanage with Mr Cu who heavily supports this institution. The orphanage is run by female Buddhist monks, and there is 18 of them to approximately 170 children. The youngest child is six days old and left on their doorstep at one day old. All the children were excited to see us and wanted to play games and have stamps on their hands. They all seem very happy, well fed and loved despite the tragic situation. Tea was back at Mr Cu's restaurant and then an early night.
