On route to Saigon

On route to Saigon

Huge day today.  Started with an early morning trip (yes 5.30am) to the Cai Rang floating markets which is basically a wholesale market of all types of seasonal fruit and vegetables all traded from boats - even cafe ones where you can buy drinks etc.  We were treated with a pineapple `lollypop` which was a quarter of a pineapple on its own stick.  Absolutely lovely.  We then went to the island markets where there was all sorts of fresh produce , many of which i did not recognise, and in the meat area there was all sorts of fish and crabs, snails, rats, frogs - many still alive until they are purchased.  Another boat ride to explore the delta a bit, with a stop at a fruit farm where we also had a display of regional music, lunch where we got to make our own rice paper rolls, another at a tourist spot where they showed us how they make rice paper, coconut candy (beautiful when its warm) and poprice (like popcorn).  And finally, we got to handle a python.  I was amazed how heavy they are - then the 2 hours to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).  An easy tea of Pho (a local noodle soup).  Crashed into bed.
