Roman baths by night

Roman baths by night

Happy birthday Asherah !! Had a yummy brekkie, ably assisted by Rachel and Millie, Mallory's friends. Then headed off to Salisbury and caught a bus to Stonehenge. Was impressed with the way they manage the site.  Everyone gets a personal audio guide which keeps it all fairly quiet.  The site itself is quite incredible.  How and why it is there is still a mystery.  Came back to Salisbury for the afternoon and had a wander round for a bit.  It's a pretty little town but the highlight is the cathedral.  We  took a tour to the top of the building (where the spire starts) and got to see how it hangs together. It was great! They have a copy of the Magna Carta. Then on to Bath for the night. Weather still warm and sunny. Got to Bath to find that the baths are open till ten, so went straight round and got a quiet two hour tour - again with a supplied audio guide. It was fascinating and the Baths by night were special. More there than I could have thought and in the end we were kicked out. It was great to avoid the crowds here. NB Extra photos today - see gallery
