For my last day in Vienna-I once again got on the hop-on hop-off bus. I don't particularly like these buses. I prefer a walking tour. But seeing I didn't make the first walking tour-I signed up for the hop-on hop-off bus a few days ago.(which also included a few walking tours). It was valid through today, so I took the bus again. I met an older lady onboard who was alone. She came here with a friend-but a few days ago, the friend had an accident on the bus-she was climbing up the staircase of the double decker bus while in motion, and fell, and broke her neck (or something like that). She was in the hospital, so the woman I met was finally touring the city after spending the last few days in the hospital with her friend. I also found out the woman was from Davie, just 20 minutes or so from me.
Nonwithstanding all of the "It's a small world" crap-I don't like meeting people from nearby, generally. While I felt bad for the lady and her friend, and rode the bus with her, I like to meet new people from far away lands. As the bus went past the beauty of Vienna-we talked about local stuff. What is the use?
The hop-on hop-off bus also came with a boat ride. It was a small two deck boat, which plyed the Danube river and adjoining canal. All of us we're scattered across the two decks, until a member of the crew told us to get off the top deck, since we would have low clearance with the bridges on the river. So we we're all crowded on one deck. We watched the boat ply the lock from the river to the canal. and pass by various sites.
After this, I looked for a coffee house, (Vienna is supposed to be famous for them, but I had a hard time finding authentic ones-but an easy time finding Starbucks). I finally came to one and had a last apple strudel and Melange (some type of coffee that tastes very similar to cappuccino). And got my bags, and took the train to Bratilava, Skovakia.
