Yesterday was my first full day in Edinburgh. The first thing I did after waking up was go the resturant for breakfast. They offer a buffet here in the hotel for around 15 pounts/roughly $22.00-That's expensive- I wanted to see the buffet and they kept on asking for my name and room number to take a look, so I left and found a good hardy breakfast for $5.50 pounds-still expensive but there was no Mcdonalds I could find close for the 99 cent poridge.
Then I purchased a ticket for the hop-on hop-off bus, actually I bought a combo ticket for 4 different routes-I got off at the majestic Edinburgh Castle-and there was a panoramic look out of the city-this is when I learned that you don't need to buy tickets to 4, 3, 2 or even 1 hop on hop bus, you can walk the whole time. Anyway the bus came with commentary do that wasn't bad
The castle was very interesting, and very crowded. This was the rulling place before Scotland and England became one in 1707 (I believe). I saw the royal jewels, different rooms of the castle, an old Military Prison-and heard a guy singing Scottish Songs. I was there for about 3 hours or so before I got museum exhibit overload, and needed a break. Then I walked a bit up the main street to the hotel and took a break.
