Yesterday morning, I went to yet another Liverpool Museum, called the Liverpool Museum. This museum had some things which I saw in the other museums/exhibits, such as displays on the ports maritime history (as seen in the maritime museum), and exhibits on the Beatles (as I saw in the Beatles exhibit). I did learn some new things-that the city of Liverpool had a service corps-to run into burning warehouses when there was a fire. To put the fire out??? Nope-they don't do that. To rescue people/serve as paramedics?? Nope, not that either. They we're actually hired by the insurance companies to save as many goods as they can. As a matter of fact, preferably they arrived before the fire department, as water from the FD's hoses often damaged the goods. This corps actually lasted into the 1980's
But Liverpool was indeed a very important Maritime port-as mentioned both Cunard and White Star Lines we're headquartered, here-and next week, a huge celebration will take place when all three Cunard Ocean Liners arrive in Liverpool at once.
