AMY: OMG, the drivers in Rome are nuts. The streets do not have defined lanes and people drive like it. Sometimes there are 4 lanes of traffic and sometimes everyone melds into 2 with no real pattern or logic. However, we did manage to navigate to the center of Rome with no maps and find parking near many of the historic sites. To back track, from Nice we went to Cannes for the day, visited the historic part of town (very small) and see where the film festival takes place. It pretty much rained all day so we stayed in a Formula one hotel that night. The next day the sun came out and we spent the day poking around Nice and walking on the beach. We had a great lunch in a café in the sunlight. It included some complementary champagne which of course I had to drink because Patti didn’t like it. We started driving towards Italy at the end of the day and ended up in a small town just North of Monte Carlo called Gorbio. It had an old village that was still being lived in. We went for a moonlit walk through the village, it was very cool. From there we wound our way along a very slow coastal road, spent a night sleeping in the car in a parking lot, explored a couple of other beaches and finally arrived in Rome yesterday early in the afternoon. We spent yesterday and today exploring all the ancient sites including the Collesuem, the Pantheon, the Vatican and many sites of roman ruins. It has been sunny and warm but I hear the rain is coming again. We will head for Sienna tomorrow and hope to get back on our bikes and do some rides through Tuscany. My internet time is running out so I will upload more pictures the first change I get. Thank you everyone for the comments, keep them coming
