Philip and Michelle at home in their van

Philip and Michelle at home in their van

Philip is at Shark Bay waiting for the wind, so he can go kite surfing. Sometimes he waits for it to power his 45-foot catamaran where he has lived for the last six years.  Michelle, his main squeeze, is waiting for her broken leg to mend, broken while (what else?) kite surfing.

They make an interesting couple.  He was a Swiss banker who did well enough to retire at an obscenely young age.  She is an American who has lived much of her life in Africa consulting for safari lodges.  After meeting Philip online, Michelle flew to Fiji and they sailed off into the sunset together.  Now they, too, are traveling in a camper van, one they purchased, while Philip's boat is being overhauled in New Zealand.  We learned all this in their van last night over too much wine and will probably learn more tonight, our treat.
