Aclimatisation

Two weeks in Canberra was both a useful and interesting introduction to Australia.

Weather wise other than two storms during the night it has been cloudless skies, cool mornings and then hot all the rest of the time. My 1st few days in a long time with over 30 degree temperatures.

It got me into the habit of layering on the suncream, made me invest in a hat and some sunglasses and basically ensure i didnt burn to a crisp or dehydrate myself (unless drinking alcohol)

Couldn't have stayed at a better place, stayed with Kylee and Sarah and all i did for the bed was wash up after the meals (an insentive to eat out if ever there was one) but they were both amazingly friendly and helpful and also came with a myriad of friends who were also fun to be around.

Galleries, Museums, a reptile centre and some half decent guiness were just some of the highlights. My statement about australian beer is not going to be retracted fully, but some of it (after i searched around enough) is actually drinkable, if still not very good.

Everyone said when i was going to spend two weeks in Canberra "what the hell are you doing" as its really a boring place to be, even one guy struck up a conversation to that effect with me in a club toilet when he realised i was "from out of town"

think its a tribute to the people i've met here and friends i've made that meant i enjoyed two weeks in the planned capital city of australia except... i cant wait for november 24th when the tv commercials for your elections are FINALLY over!

There are dishes in my sink and we miss our dishpig!

You've left us with overcast skies and rain - while we all appreciated your britishness, that's one momento you could have taken with you!!
