March 26: Chill in Urgench

The third day in Urgench/Khorezm and my last full day in Uzbekistan was very chill and enjoyable, spent meandering through the bazaar (which is pleasantly familiar to those in Tajikistan and the rest of Central Asia) and taking in a delicious pilov dinner and a great few hours of live rhubab music and dancing in the family's living room. I also squeezed in some tennis, during which a flock of sheep took a shortcut through the court in the middle of our game! I resisted the urge to yell a variation on the typical Canadian phrase of “Car!” whenever a passing vehicle interrupts a game of street hockey…
