Ubud is now anything but blissful, but we did enjoy seeing again its beautiful architecture and the mesmerizing temple dancers. We spent most of our time amidst the rice fields south of Ubud, listening to the dizzying sounds of the cicadas increasing with the humidity and heat. The comical calls of the Tokay geckos made us giggle once again as we were lulled to sleep... 'tokay...tokay...tokay'
Sanur beach was a much quieter alternative to Kuta and Seminyak, with lengthy bicycle paths along the ocean and canals. We cycled past colourful fishing boats and markets, and through mangroves to old temples.
