Singapore

When traveling they say... beware of crowded places such as markets... Well, as we sat in Little India's bustling food nirvana just tucking into butter chicken, a blast goes off under our table! What the!? All eyes directed our way we realize some joker threw a firecracker. Why, who knows, but pretty uncharacteristic for the Singapore we have grown to like. This country is all about order, cleanliness and a surprising amount of thoughtfulness both encouraged by subway ads but also evident in the manners of the masses. People are reminded and encouraged to speak up and report abuse or suspicions and to take action to restrain offenders until police arrive. Guess we're getting old because it is comforting to live within theses rules.

At 1 degree north of the equator, every sweat gland gets a workout. But it's a price we're willing to pay to escape the chill descending back home.

Architects have run amok here modeling buildings after durian fruit and placing ships on sky scrapers and we are the richer for it. It makes a city worth looking at. Bravo Singapore! Now to Bangkok to face the chaos...
