Diani beach - Ghosts, Spirits or Shadows?

KENYA | Tuesday, 11 November 2008 | Views [741] | Comments [1]

We decided to spend a week at Diani beach to save money as we figured if we just sit on the beach for a few days we won't incur too many expenses.

Our first night we stay in a beach cottage that is 50 meters from the sea. We get there late and it's getting dark so we don't get to see the beach. Everyone goes to bed early in this area, so at 9pm we find ourselves sitting in the living room. Rich is reading in the badley lit room and I'm using the flashlight to look for bugs (this place is in a wooded area and there are spiders everywhere) I happen to shine the flashlight directly onto Rich, out of boredom, and that's when I see it. Rich's shadow shows up against the wall, like normal, then another shadow appears just above his. For a split second, I think its my shadow, then I realize that's impossible because there are no lights behind me; I'm standing in darkness. I immediately switch off the flashlight and tell Rich I just saw we have to leave this place, I just saw something extermly scary. He laughs, because he thinks I've found a spider. I tell him no it's much worse, he says, did you see a ghost, I say, yeah lets go! Because he didn't see it, he doesn't believe me, and thinks maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. But it was there, a "shadow" with spikey hair, standing directly above Rich's shadow.

Unfortunately we have to stay in this cottage one more night, but we get through without any instances. We move to beach cottage 10 min. down the beach. Mainly because it's cheaper, but the urgency to move was in the shadows and I feel better.

On our fourth night, Rich and I are sitting on opposite sofas. He's playing a video game and I'm idly playing with the flashlight. I usually keep it near me at night, because there are a lot of power outages. I forget what I'm doing and shine the flashlight on Rich, trying to get his attention. There it is again. This time the shadow looks slightly different, but it's in the same place, right above Rich. I immediately turn off the light, then out of curiosity, turn it back on...no shadow, it's gone.

I don't know anything about shadows or ghosts or what I saw, but I would love to find out. Any ideas???

Coast is actually known for being a place with lots of "spiritual" occurrences. I've had the weirdest fall-outs with friends there, too. Some say it's the water reflecting energy, others say it's becaus the place has so many old and ancient places.

Interesting blog by the way. I found it cos I'm looking for a last-minute place to stay in Nyali (Msa) for tomorrow. :)
