The next morning we awake to amazing scenery passing us by outside our window. Scenic landscapes and refreshingly crisp air make us both forget the importance of today. Rich’s Birthday! What a way to turn 28!
It's my birthday (26th Nov - a date for your calendar) and we celebrate with a couple of Tuskers (beer) and a tube of Pringles. As you can see, Alicia spared no expense!
The rest of the day is spent reading, listening to the missionaries sing (they ended up in our car), and stopping a few times (sometimes planned, sometimes not!). The most interesting part about the train ride is seeing how the locals react when we go by or stop. When we’re sailing through a villiage area, kids coming running from all directions, some just to wave and others to collect water bottles people throw from the train. When we stop, the locals run up to the windows selling everything from fruits and veggies to shoes and flashlights. We don’t buy any goods, but we do throw a couple water bottles to children and the excitement and gratidutde on their faces is incredible to see, I wish we had more to give them.
