I am at my desk, for probably the last time. It was raining this morning, though it's clearing up a little now. I have just taken a photo of my laptop and desk, you can see this blog being written (that's kind of post-modern).
I checked my contract paperwork yesterday and was surprised to see that it finishes not on the 28th, as I thought, but on the 27th. That's Monday, since I have a day (actually one day and two hours) of annual leave left, I can take it on Monday and therefore finish up today.
So next week I'm going to Osaka. Monday I will stay in Tokyo overnight, then Tuesday I'll take the shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo to Osaka. I have a hotel in Osaka booked till Saturday.
I was in Osaka for a few days over Easter 2008 when I was here for a holiday, but I was really sick at the time and didn't enjoy it much. I'm hoping it'll be better this time.
I went for curry with some other ALTs last night, continuing the Thursday night tradition, as I used my point card to collect stamps I realised I won't have time to complete the card and get my 100 yen curry. I did complete one card and get a cheap meal a few months ago, but I won't make it on this one which is a bit disappointing.
The new ALTs arrive in Tokyo this weekend, then they'll be getting to Kiryu a few days later. It seems that my job won't be going to any of them, a private contractor will be used to fill the Kurohone spot.
The summer festival will be 7,8 and 9th of August, then a week later I'm leaving.
So this blog is rapidly coming to an end, just 3 weeks or so left and it will have outlived its usefulness.
See you soon.
