I told the students yesterday that I have some koala keychains (that Mum sent me) and if they would like one they should write me a letter (in English of course) before Christmas.
Today I got 4 handmade christmas cards, not exactly what I was looking for, since they haven't written much English on them. In fact one girl wrote 'Ho Ho Ho' in Japanese, but still it was nice that they made an effort. So I made some little cards this afternoon to give back to them with the keychains.
Tomorrow is a kids Christmas party/camp/thingy organised by the Kiryu International Exchange Association. I volunteered to help out, so that's 11-3 on Saturday filled.
Sunday I'm going to watch DVDs at Marcus's place. Not sure what, I think he was planning on buying Batman Returns this week though.
The days are running out, it will son be time to submit the forms for recontracting, I am not at all sure what I'll do just yet. I was planning on two years, but to be honest I'm conflicted at the moment. I keep reminding myself that this is the 'down period' that we were warned about prior to coming over. I'm not miserable, I'm having a pretty good time, I just don't have a very fulfilling job, which is tough to deal with after 10+ years of working as a coordinator at Holmesglen.
I know some of the other ALTs are thinking seriously as well, but we'll see what happens in February when the forms are due. If I don't recontract with JET there's still the possibility of finding work somewhere over here on my own, my visa is still valid for another 2 years.
I guess the trip home will be important, I'll see how I feel when I get back, it'll probably be telling.
