Remember how my Lonely Planet was in the bag that was stolen? Well this week I had the pleasure of hanging out with a lovely German lady from Quebec City. We had a lot of laughs sharing stories about past travel adventures and current woes on this one. Unfortunately, she left on Wednesday. However, her departing gift to me (along with some antibiotics and bug repellent) was her copy of the LP. As unreliable as the Ecuador version appears to be, I feel better with it in my new Ecuadorian shoulder bag. And I gained an invitation to Quebec City this August! So I guess you can say that traveling instead of working on the Galapagos Islands has not been a total lost cause. I have even found a real friend or two along the way.
