Here starts my adventures in Provincial and National Parks. The first one I'm going to explore is La Mauricie National Park, in Quebec.
On Sunday morning I leave Ottawa after visiting the National Art Gallery and I start to drive along the Saint Lawrence river. I drive up to a small town located a few kilometers from the park -Grand Mere- where I spend my first night in the car. The day after I'm ready to go hiking early, but the offices of the park opens only at 9am. Canada Parks is very well organized, and all the trails are very well maintained (all across Canada as I will discover). There is a fee to pay at the entrance that depends on your trip plans, but I can say that it has always worth it.
I take a 4 hours trail along the Maurice river and then across the forest. The (not so) funny thing is that in the middle of the hike it starts to rain very strong and when I come back to the car I'm completely wet: I had to change of my clothes.. my underwear too! I am so sad for my new shoes :-/
However I had an awesome experience that I will never forget: my first Canadian National Park!
