What a blessed thing it is to bring joy and love to others. I was recently reminded of something that my Year 4 teacher said. She taught us that true joy is Jesus first, Yourself last and Others in between – spelling J-O-Y. There is nothing better than bring a smile to a child’s face and sharing with them the big love God has for them as well as the challenge to love others.
Now Cambodia is a nation hungry for this kind of joy and students from New Life School were able to experience a fun filled day, through the opportunity of attending Logos International School, and take part in a Vocational Bible School program.
A team from Korea led the excited and jubilant children in singing, a craft and games.
Children beamed as they listened to bible teaching, about God loving us so we can love others, presented in short clever skits and visual stories. It is such an important message to love others, even though they may not treat us well. A punch should not be matched with a punch, harsh words not returned. Home life is not easy for any of these beautiful children, each faced with many difficulties and adversities. The love of Jesus is so welcomely received by these children, but the challenge to loving others - even those who treat us wrongly - is difficult.
Lastly the well awaited swimming happened. Happiness was heard from each child as waves of laughter surrounded the swimming areas while they played in the water. It was so much fun to take the kids out into the swimming pool and I had many trying to kick, dogpaddle and blow bubbles into the water. Their enjoyment just reminded me how much I love these kids and serving in Cambodia.
