Rio Dulce
Thank goodness for the Lonely Planet guide book. After riding over 100km it started raining and the town didn't look too promising ( in the rain it is even harder to judge...), but the guide pointed us in the direction of a sweet little place in the jungle and, before we knew it, we had a boat motoring us with all our gear across the lake and into a side arm of the river, right into the thickest of the jungle. The little cabins were well integrated between all kinds of jungly plants. A wooden path leading to the bathrooms, shower, kitchen......a kind of a dream and you didn't even have to wake up to find out about the prices: a night was no more than $17 for the two of us. Even the showers had warm water and everything was as clean as you can possibly imagine it would be, knowing the place is run by three Swiss guys. Food was yummy and their home made bread priceless in my opinion. A place to rest - no ruins to visit, nothing to do, not even people to talk to, but listen to the noises of the jungle in the rain....
