...or Mother Spoon is part of the asociatción de Mujeres Indígenas. An association of indigenous women between ages 18 and 65, working for the equal treatment of Saraguro women. Mama Cuchara purchases all of its food directly from indigenous women in the region, putting money into the hands of families. The fresh , often organic products are then used in the restaurant. The money the restaurant makes goes into the association bank to provid loans to woman who need it.
