Off we went to another market town, always looking for a great bargain or something different or a terrific souvenir. Well, this little town was quite a surprise! We have to go back for three reasons: 1)Ed forgot the camera, 2) We couldn't take pictures of the flowers and I want to paint them, 3) I have to buy a “borek”. What's a “borek” you say? Well, I just assumed it was a dish from Brittany that I hadn't had yet.

However, when I was talking to my dear friend Rosy who knows ALL THINGS ABOUT BRETON, she said she had never heard of it!! So, we looked it up and it turns out it is Armenian! Or so the Armenians would have you believe! In fact, the Turks claim it too and you know how things are between the Turks and the Armenians.

The exterior is made with phylo dough and then you pick what you want in it and it is prepared for you on an open grill. It looked like a very large omelet. They smelled delicious and I sampled one with feta and spinach. Other choices included cantal, potatoes, onion, and of course all kinds of meat. Dinner sometime next week?
