Hogwarts Express
Well I’d have to say that neither of us have read any of the famed Harry Potter books and yet here we were on the train line from Fort William to Mallaig where the famous steam train called The Jacobite Express plies back and forth daily and is known to many kids around the world as “Hogwarts Express” (from the film “Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone”).
The trip is scenic and spectacular and the highlight, of course, is when you go over the Glenfinnan Viaduct – that scene in the film where the train has the black smoke pouring from it as it passes over the viaduct. It’s also one of the famous Great Train Journeys of Britain…you can eat a fancy lunch in the diner or you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the views – oh and of course have your photo taken with the school ma’am in her flowing black Hogwarts gown! ‘Twas great fun!!!
