Field Notes Close to home or in a far away jungle, there is always something marvelous to see.

Some places surprise you – the Black Hills of SD, Nevada’s Great Basin and the canyon country of Utah.  But North Dakota was pretty much as expected; miles and miles of miles and miles. My reason for visiting was simple, it's the only state I hadn’t been to.  Teddy Roosevelt National Park is worth visiting if you are in the area but it is hardly worthy of a special trip.  My National Park Golden Age pass, the ‘Geezer Card’ made it a cheap place to stay for a couple of nights and the diversity of birds made for some good photos.
