Museum and New Pants

Yesterday the original plan was to check-out and go somewhere else-and I was undecided on the other place. I was debating on another spot in Kosovo; people have recommended a few-or to leave Kosovo or go to Macedonia.  In the end-I chose neither. I decided to stay in Pristina for another night.  Again, the previous night I didn't go to sleep until 3:00 am, so I decided to stay here for another night.

I am glad I decided to stay-I decided to go to two museums in Pristina. The first is the National Museum-which promised to give a good history of the town, and supposedly had a section on the war. The museum was closed for renovations.  There we're no signs the  museum was closed for renovations-but when I walked in there workers we're workers and sawdust was everywhere.

But another museum was nearby-which was called the Ethnological Museum-this museum focused on old Kosovo life, with dress of people from the 17-1800's, how an old house was furnished, with old time kitchens, bedrooms etc. And it was quite interesting. The chief curator/ethnologist gave me a tour (I was the only one there), and he was able to answer my questions.

I then went for a cheap lunch of salad and pita bread, and the lack of sleep started to catch up with me.  So I went back to the hostel and sat on the porch, and took a nap for a while.

After a few hours, I went shopping-the one pair of pants I had a bunch of holes including one in the behind.  I walked around and found a bus with the label "Minimax"-which the  side of the bus said was a shopping mall.  So I took that bus to one end-no mall-and took it to the other end-and found Minimax on some hills overlooking the city. Minimax was more a large department store then a mall-but I found some Khakis-and rather then try to take the bus back-I walked back down the hills. It was nice-I walked past the KFOR police station-(the UN appointed force to oversee Kosovo), a new US Embassy under construction, and down the hill towards downtown.  I then took another walk across downtown and across the promenade, and ate some grilled corn from people on the street.
