Pleasant days in Paraty

BRAZIL | Monday, 21 April 2008 | Views [670] | Comments [1]

We headed down the coast from Rio through some stunning vistas to Paraty. A tiny, old colonial town with a historic centre - it is beautiful with cobble streets, whitewashed buildings and a quaint little harbour all over looked by dark mountains (there was a definite European influence here). It felt like being on holiday after the hustle and bustle of Rio.

Our couple of days in Paraty were spent dawdling through the picturesque town, watching the world go by and enjoying the sun on a boat trip. From this place of laid back laziness we headed to the world's fastest growing city (22 million or so at the last count) - Sao Paulo. Another big culture shock back into a bustling metropolis but a great experience all the same.

Tomorrow is a 7 hour bus trip to Curitiba, apparently a very modern and clean city - another contrast. Brasil is being pretty amazing and we're having a great time.
