Out and about in Austin

So as promised I gave myself a kick up the backside, told myself that life does go on and ventured outside the front door of the hostel to have a look around.

And what I saw was pretty good.  I wlked around a lot and found an independent book shop which was excellent and as a lot of you will know about me I am a sucker for the old book shops so I spent a fair amount of time in there and didn't leave empty handed (more stuff to lugg around!)

I then did a self guided walking tour of an area of town with some architecturally interesting historical houses and then to cap it all off I walked around the grounds of the Capitol building (no pun intended). Have to say the Capitol building is amazing and I think I'll go back to have a look at the inside as they do guided tours each day.

Back at the hostel I got chatting with a few more people and ended up having a good evening of beers and conversation which flowed over into my birthday so I got a few early birthday wishes in :o)
