Weird and wonderful formations at Bryce

Bryce Canyon is another place where a plateau of limestone has been sculpted by water, this time into thousands of fantastic shapes called hoodoos which are like tall rock daggers, fins, walls.

We heard the most "OMGs" here at Bryce as the hoodoos are so amazing, like something from a different planet and they seem to glow orange, pink and red as the light changes. At first glance it looks like a hostile, dusty Martian-like scene, but after a bit the hoodoos come alive with ugly and funny faces.

Near our campsite was a colony of Utah Prairie Dogs, simply the cutest animal you can imagine. Like meerkats, they post sentries on lookout and communicate with squeaks to each other as they play and eat before quickly diving into their holes at any sign of danger..

The wildlife in the States so far has been phenomenal, the best of our entire trip. So far, we have seen elk, mule deer, squirrels, a bob-cat, chipmunks, bison, condors, lizards, a snake, prairie dogs, marmots, coyotes, a kangaroo mouse, bighorn sheep, eagles and bats. All those blurry photos!
